Exclusionary service contract or not?

Hello all,

I just purchased a 2017 Entegra Aspire 44R motor coach and am considering a 5-7 year exclusionary service warranty through my selling dealer with a company Portfolio Protection. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I've never heard of that company. Have you searched using Google to see what is being said about it?

So here is the deal with Portfolio. I had a service contract with them for my previous coach. First of all, you need to bring back the coach to the dealer you bought the service contract from - no choice in other service providers, unless, of course you're on the road.

Second, if your dealer, like mine did, goes out of business and you want to terminate the contract early, you will be out the portion that went to the dealer - all you get reimbursed are the admin fees from Portfolio - and a lot of people had huge problems getting even that portion back.

Third, read the reviews - they are about as bad as they get.

We just bought a new Newmar Dutch Star back in June and our dealer was pushing real hard for the Portfolio contract. I told him, given my previous experience I'd rather sign a contract with the devil:-) Needless to say, the dealer was not happy.

I will wait until the initial factory warranty is up and then look around for an extended service contract. CoachNet is one company that keeps coming up with good reviews.

Hi Chris! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! Keep her between the ditches!

I've never been a fan of extended warranties. If this is a new RV you should have most all of the bugs out before the warranty expires.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
