Extended Service Plans -- Extended Warranty

Recently purchased a new/2016 Newmar Ventana and did not purchase an extended service plan through the dealer.

Wandering what everyone's thoughts are on best extended service plans to look at?

I understand this is a loaded question with many, many possibilities but I thought I would ask.

Since this is our first trailer, and I have heard all kinds of horror stories, I bought a bumper to bumper 5 year extended warranty. Paid big money for it, but figured (if its worth a crap) if any one large item goes out, it will pay for itself.

But in all honesty, I wonder if they will find some fault of mine no matter what repair I try to claim, and if they will try to not honor the warranty.

Ours is StarRV Diamond Service Contract.

I did no research ahead of time, because the dealer offered it to me at the table, and I spent all my time researching the trailer, not the extended warranties.

Sorry to semi-hijack the thread...needed to state my concerns, and subscribe to this one so I can keep an eye on the responses.

A total waste of money, but.....I have one, the last one trailer and one MH, it paid for itself within two years. I do not like paying, but I feel better with it. Mine also came from the dealer.

We bought the extended warranty on our last coach (don't think it paid for itself) but didn't buy it on this one and so far that was a good decision.
That said, we did buy extended warranty on our used car, 2010 Buick Enclave, and have used the ext warranty so much it has definitely paid for itself, a couple times over.
Not sure we'd buy it on the next coach though.

I have a 2017 on order and no way will I do the warranty. I don't mind doing some things myself. If you use it a decent amount in the first year and all goes well odds are you will be fine for a long time. Another big factor for me is if it's broke I want it fixed fast and most the repair shops are very slow. Same thing with boats.

You have time to investigate which ESP you want before the factory warranty expires. There are several good companies from which to choose. Good Sam has their plan (these are not a warranty-more like an insurance plan), wholesalewarranty, Camping World (separate plan/company) from Good Sam.
Be advised these are all brokers, as is the RV dealer, they are not the actual guarantor of the contract

This is merely my opinion; I would not purchase an extended service plan for a towable. I do purchase an extended service plan for a MH because they are such a complicated machine. Our first ESP from Camping World paid for itself, and I just purchased one from GS to cover our MH up to 18 yrs old. Camping World's ESP is now limited to 7 yrs old.
Some of your appliances now have a 2-yr warranty. Dometic used to extend their factory warranty to 3-yrs if you had an annual service performed by a commercial RV technician. Read each of your appliances warranty to make sure.

ACC Warranty looks like a bad one.

ACC Warranty Services Group is the name on the lawsuit.
Complaint filed in 2014
Settlement filed in 2015
Wonder if any of the consumers actually got restitution?

Found this link a lawsuit against them: (search for ACC Warranty)
Attorney General

The settlement is found here:
http://forms.indianaconsumer.com/cpd...-1006243-1.pdf

And that is just people who live in indiana and knew about the lawsuit. I'd say that projects to a pretty big populations of unhappy campers.
