Just purchased a 2016 Fleetwood Bounder 35k. Looking to purchase an extended warranty but need some feedback from this group about your experience with different companies. Thanks in advance..

Board opinion is don't bother with the caveat that if you're handy most repairs you can do yourself.

I had a Portfolio policy bought from Wholesale Warranties, had multiple claims and never had 1 denied.

Wayne, did you have more claims than what you paid for the warranty, or would you have been better off banking that same amount of money and paying for the repairs?

$6000 policy cost paid over $14000 in claims. I made sure I knew the rules for claims and I followed them.

That is just like your health insurance policy. Has it paid out more than your premiums? Probably for us older people -yes, but in order for the ins. company to remain in business others pay more into the program than is paid out for claims submitted.
Name one for-profit company who has a business model to lose money or break-even.

I always laugh when I read in these threads that the warranty companies are in business to make money. What company is in business to lose money? If you buy a policy, follow the rules for making a claim.

There will will always be a very few people that get more from the ESC that it cost them. It all depends on the individuals risk tolerance. We have owned 7 motorhomes and never purchased an Extended Warrantee which is really an extended service contract. I have several thousands in my account, after all covered expenses were deducted. I'm guessing less than 10% of people that purchased an ESC get more than their premium back. Our dealer told me they were a great money maker for them. That confirmed all I needed to know. What's your record in a casino?? I don't think an ESC is much different.

my last motorhome will have been the last I ever purchase. In fact, I went as fas as to request a refund on my prorated balance due to the lack of willingness to cover “covered” items.
I’ll explain….in the covered items was list hydraulic leveling system.
That is exactly what was stated.
However, in the exclusions, one item listed was “hoses”. Keep in mind this was among other non covered items like batteries, wipers, belts, etc.

So when a hydraulic line to one of the levelers ruptured, I thought surely I’m covered….wrong!!! Coverage denied.

So regardless how you feel….they will pull this kind of shenanigans at any opportunity possible.

By the way, a hydraulic hose shop made those repairs for $400.

i buy an esc for every motorized vehicle i own.my side by side esc has paid for itself a dozen times over. my last truck had to get the entire front drive system replaced.that in itself was more than my ext.warranty alone cost.my new truck has free oil changes for the duration of the warranty. that is over 2 grand if i do it as required.never used my boat esc yet,knock wood.haven't used the t/t esc, only because we haven't had the chance to use it yet due to the top down house reno's.it's basically a spare room right now.

So, after reading the fine print, you signed the contract anyway. You knew hoses were not a covered item going in to the agreement.

We paid for the extended 7 year warranty and had no need for it. Factory warranty covered initial adjustments. Replaced batteries and serviced drivetrain at heavy truck (Ford) dealer. Super easy to maintain and covered by a local service that comes to my coach whenever I need a RV service item done. Stays inside and plugged in.Now, tires? I'm about to find out how much to get 9 year old, but 12,000 total miles wear replaced. Any idea's? we are leaning to using Michelin again.
