Extended warranty
I know this has probably already been discussed many times, but what are the pros and cons(besides the cost) of buying an extended warranty? Are they worth it? Are there warranty companies that are excellent to work with and what are some that we should avoid?
We are looking at a 2017 Allegro Bus. It’s in great shape, but it’s also 8 years old.

It has been discussed and debated many times on this and other forums. Just type in 'RV extended warranty' and you'll find many threads/posts, both for and against. I'm in the against camp and would rather set $ aside for the inevitable. Read the fine print, then read the very fine print, to see what they don't/won't cover.

First, keep in mind these are actually service contracts, not extended warranties.
As mentioned, read the fine print, allot of exclusions included sometimes.
Some consider placing funds into an account just for repairs, but you should add to it every month, to have funds for a major issue, if possible.

Extended warranties are about piece of mind. Some dealers will sell you a warranty that is only good at their location, other are at any rv repair service centers. Dealer will charge you the most. After many hours of research extended warranty companies I settled on 'Wholesale Warranty". I would buy the shortest term, not 5 or 7 years. I always go year to year with a one year warranty. The one I have now was one year for $750 and covers just about everything with a $150 deductible.

Extended warranties are a hot subject for people as, like politic - there are two extreme sides. Personally, if it gives you peace of mine, and you have a reputable place to do the work, and you can afford, buy it. If you If you are a worrier about cost of things, and are mechanically good, may not be the best option. We did get an extended watt any on our rig, as I know what the costs are to replace engine / parts on a diesel. "If" something was to happen, I'm not out $20+ grand. As others say, really crawl through the fine print, front to back as to what is and is not covered. I just had some Spyder switches go out and the cost for two of them and labor was over $1K. Once our 5 year warranty is up, I may consider a year to year option.

Service contracts ( what these are ). Is about piece of mind and how much risk you can take. It’s an insurance plan against the worst. These extended warranties always make big money and they can’t do that paying out more than they take from you now can they? There’s always the exception. Are you that exception? Do you feel unlucky ? Would a Big expense bankrupt you?. I suggest wholesale warranty’s . A broker for several policies. Not because I’ve used them but they have a good reputation in the community for those who feel the need.
