Extra vehicle charge for Toad

Has anyone been charged an "extra Vehicle fee" for their Toad? Three times over the past 2 years I have been asked to pay this fee. Twice in Idaho at State Parks and Once at a National Forest campground in Washington. I ended up having to pay it in Idaho but was able to convince the vendor in the National Forest Campground that the vehicle was actually not an Extra Vehicle. Just curious if this is something that might gain traction.

Michigan state parks used to do it; not sure if they still do.

The only time we had an issue was at Glacier Nat'l Park. Many times we liked to disconnect our Jeep before driving into a campground. We did so and then pulled up to the entrance booth at the campground. They wanted to charge for the Jeep. We made a U-turn; connected the Jeep again and proceeded in without the charge.... done right in front of the campground ranger. She just shook her head!

I’ve experienced this at Colorado state parks in the past. Don’t know if they still do it.

So do they charge the extra vehicle fee for the tow vehicles when they come in with a trailer?

MH is 1 vehicle
Toad is 1 vehicle
Total is 2 vehicles

Truck/Van towing a trailer....1 vehicle
Truck/Van towing doubles ...still 1 vehicle but that extra trailer/boat etc may be charged an extra fee

MH towing Motorcycle whether on a lift or trailer......one or two vehicles

I, too, have been charged an extra fee for the toad at some state parks (don't remember which states). And, I've also been to some state parks where we would have been charged an extra fee if we had disconnected the toad before pulling through the gate.

Sometime it is just the principal of proving some illogical rule stupid.

Many parks have not charged us if we are still hooked up when we arrive at the check in station. We once even had to go back outside and rehook up the toad to not be charged the fee.

Texas State Parks do not charge for a toad if it's hitched up to the motorhome when first coming into the park. After registering, you can disconnect and drive to your heart's content. However, you'll be charged if it's driven in separately.
