I got my Senior pass right at the gate at Bryce Canyon so I didn't have to pay any processing fees. I didn't even have to get out of my truck or even show I.D.; Mr. Ranger did all the work.

We used ours all the time as public campgrounds were always our first choice.
Keep in mind that it doesn't get you into state parks.

Original poster said $10 per year...at age 62 it is $10 for life. It gets you half price camping and free entrance at all federally owned parks. Save the by mail fees and buy it in person at one of the parks. Once you log into recreation.gov and see all the parks you will find it difficult to pay full price again. And all of the parks I have been to are soooooo nice....level, large sites and very clean. Beats state and most private parks to pieces.

When we took a 2-month trip out west in 2012 our Senior Pass card saved us a TON of money getting into National Parks!

Here's a pic of our $12/night site and the view we had. Other pic shows the hookups at the site.

We went to Arches national park last June and paid $10.00 the first day. The next day when we went the gentleman manning the toll booth asked me my age. When I told him I was 64 he said if I had the previous days receipt he would credit it toward a senior pass. Went to Arches two more days and didn't
Have to pay anything else to get in.

It's a great pass. My wife qualified for it last year at the age of 62. It is such a valuable pass that some jack-ass broke into my rv while in a storage lot and stole it!! I had to wait one more month to qualify for it and now I have my own.

The same type pass is available for those considered 100% disabled, or with the impairments listed in the requirements section. It is a nice thing to have in/on Federal Parks and lands.

Yep, that's the Golden Access pass I wrote about earlier in the thread, but they call it "America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass – Access Pass" now.

We met a couple and a grandfather living with his grandson who lived from one COE here in TN to another, both families using the senior passes. They spent 2 weeks at each place and rotated.
We use ours all the time. We also got PassportAmerica for our trip out west last year. Between the two we saved a lot of money.

We bought ours for $10 right at the entrance to Grand Teton National Park two years ago, camped for $11 a night and paid nothing to get into Yellowstone. Being old has some benefit.

You bet, it is the best ten dollars I have spent, ....but the key is, it is good for federal, or national parks, not state, or county parks. We have used ours alot and saving half of a camp site fee gives you a warm fuzzy feeling. Gale

I have the Golden Access Pass and the California State Parks Disability Pass, 50% off.
San Bernardino National Forest also has a separate Forest Pass. They like new vehicles. The courts have decided the federal passes trump this pass.
Proof of disability is presentation of the pass, period. You no longer are required to have a big D tattooed on your forehead. They may not ask what your disability is. If I am ever asked I tell them unresolved mental issues.
