Financing for 'Older' Motorhomes (and Trailers)

I have been looking at RVs for over a year. I finally found one I want and the time is right, but it is older than 2009 (a 2004), the cutoff for Good Sam loans. It is a Chinook so it is very well made, but that doesn't help it qualify. I also seriously considered a 2006 Airstream trailer, and it wouldn't qualify either.

Has anyone successfully financed an 'older' RV? I intend to full time in it if that makes a difference.

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance!

Check with your local bank / credit union, I was surprised to find my local bank had no issue financing my 2002 motorhome last year, although their big thing was only financing up to NADA value. Also I was financing for only 4 years.

Isaac-1 is right. A bank or credit union (especially credit unions) you've had experience with for several years is more financing you than what you purchase.

Give them a call and let us know how that worked out.

Southeast Financial RV Loans approved me for a loan on a 2005 Class A motor home last year so you might try them.

I took a loan from my 401K. All the interest goes back to my 401K so I am paying interest to myself. May not work for everyone but a great solution for some.

I had no trouble through USAA financing a 15 year old motorhome. However I was only asking for about 40% of the value and was paying the rest in cash.

thx

Don't tell them you intend to full time, that sometimes will kill the deal (no place to repo it).

USAA made a loan for our 2007 Excel 5th wheeler with a small down payment. We paid it off less than a year later. No questions, completed in a few minutes over the phone.
