Fireplace Recommendations
I want to install a fireplace insert in my class C. It needs to have a somewhat realistic flame, blower, and crackling/popping sound. Any recommendations? There’s a zillion out there!

No recommendations. If the size is somewhat universal and I assume they may be, pick one with the features you want and that will fit your space and go for it.
We had one in our toy hauler and never used it. So we weren’t concerned when our present coach didn’t have one.
Enjoy your purchase. My daughter has one in her fifth wheel and loves it.

We have 2 in our new rig. One in our last rig. Use them all the time. Never seen one with snap, crackle, pop. Love the idea. I bet I can find a phone app for the sound…..hhhmmmm…..

Other than looking good and maybe thinking you feel warmer....fire places are pretty much useless. By law they can only put out 1,500 watts of heat. So save the fire place hole for storage or a TV and get a good AC powered portable heater. We've carried two Laskos for years...1,500 or 750 watts of power, swivel option, temp option, timer option.

I installed an electric fireplace in our last Class A motorhome (see photo)
No room in our present Class C floor plan.
Have you got space to install one in your rig?
Available space will determine where you might fit one. Be careful of the physical space for your installation. Watch your power consumption….these things draw 15 amps maximum.
We have a few electric fireplaces in our home. Never heard of any that make sounds.

Just remember your putting 1500 watts onto your inverter circuit unless you use a non inverted outlet.
I have one and it puts out enough heat to keep the living area warm enough to run you out of the room. It does not crackle. You could always put on a crackling fire screen saver.

I used Furion brand, It looks ok. has several heat settings, but does not snap, crackle, or pop. I picked this one because it was the size I wanted.
We have been very happy with it.
It mostly keeps the trailer warm when on shore power. DR

My first Alpenlite 34RLR had a fireplace. Stupid thing. The heater worked just fine but the fake flame was obviously fake and the fan made alot of noise.
Lost that trailer to a blowover in 2009. Replacement trailer, also an Alpenlite 34RLR has no fireplace but it does have the built in heater. Again, noisy thing.
The storage gained from not having that stupid fake fire is far more valuable. The toaster oven and coffee machine fit in the cabinet perfectly.

So the outlet I planned to use is one that is powered by the inverter….. but only will use it when plugged into shore power. Is that okay?

Yes, the inverter will go into "pass through" mode.

Cool. But I have decided on a plan to run the inverter output to the other side of the coach and power my recliners and possibly the fridge so I can use them while driving. Then I’ll switch their wires over to the fireplace side. (Unless it’s a pain then I’ll go with your plan)
Thanks for the help

Your features list is great, that's what we had.
We had 2 in our last 5er, they were great for added heat in cold weather. There's something about watching a burning log fire that soothes a person. I would not buy one without a fan/blower to circulate the electric heat.
The only thing about ours was, the company issued a recall for the remote unit behind the unit catching fire.
Instead of returning to the dealer, I just removed the remote receiver that was in-line with the 120VAC cord and splice the cord back together. They worked fine after that for 8 years.

So what's the difference between 1500 Lasko watts and 1500 fireplace watts, besides the fireplace looking nicer?
Thanks,

We have a water vapor fireplace off Amazon. Probably not what you're looking for, but we love it.
RGB LEDs, so you can shoot any color/brightness light through the vapor you like. We have it inset into a custom table/storage unit. No heat to speak of, just ambience. We use our mini-splits or hydronic system for heat. It's quiet but does have a distinct crackling sound.
