First real trip

Well my wife and I are on our first real trip in used RV we bought.(1997 Fleetwood Southwind)
I had rig checked out and had several things fixed so ready to go. Replaced the batteries.

We took several peoples advice on here and played with motorhome in front of our house getting it set up.
Well I realized day before we were leaving that I didnt personally check stove, water heater and fridge on propane.
NOTHING WOULD WORK.

Took back yo shop. After they messed with it about a hour. Said solenoid on propane tank that opens to allow gas through lines was frozen. He said newer models dont even have that solenoid there.
Anyway, everything worked like a champ. We got away few hours late next day. So far everything great.
I had never backed motorhome up yet. Campground host laughed and took me to site to guide me in between light pole and palm tree . bout 3 feet on either side and amazingly I backed in first time perfect split between the two.. I was shocked and he said you did that like a pro.

Did you check the date code on the tires? Even if tread looks new lifetime of RV tires is 10 years. CONGRATULATIONS on your new rig and enjoy discovering the US of A!

Now you can get out and get more practice handling the rig.

Just a suggestion:
If you're not used to backing something with mirrors only, find a large parking lot that has a large area not being used. Practice backing into parking spots, pulling out, making square corners, and backing into more parking spots at different angles. Do this until it feels comfortable!

I grew up on a farm driving trucks, then had a motor home in the early 80's and always felt secure in backing, even with a boat in tow. Then 25 years later I was surprised when the MH I purchased felt VERY uncomfortable backing, even with the camera. After going to a parking lot and practicing for a while, it felt natural again and felt like I could "thread the needle" with those mirrors.
