Hello All,
Your advice has always been so great and I need it one more time. I live in St. Louis and would like to take my kids on a trip over spring break 7-12 of April. I do not want to drive any further then 8-10 hours from home and I am looking for somewhere I can entertain myself (love Golfing) and my two kids (girls 17&5) and my teenager's schoolmate. Any suggestions. The amusement parks are not open quite yet I do not think.

Would Branson, MO fit the bill? Fairly close to you and plenty to do....golf, shows, shopping, outdoor stuff, amusement park (Silver Dollar City).

I thought about it but my thought is the youngest would be happy and not the oldest.

When's the last time the 17 year old and the 5 year old were happy at the same time? So, feed them turkey and buy them a lot of presents - it won't matter where you take them if you pretend like it's Christmas!

Hi Carla,
Hang onto your hat with my suggestion. It's a gamble because of the weather, but I think both girls and you will love this location.
Consider Mackinaw Island (city) Michigan. It is 670 miles from St. Louis all on interstate highway. Go here to learn about the Island. There are quite a few CGs in the area. While you are in the area, another day adventure is a drive to the Sault Ste Marie Soo locks. Go here to learn about the boat ride through the locks. If the girls have never been out of the country, the return ride on the boat, you will technically be in Canada.
Other places to consider are:
Nashville, TN
Memphis, TN
Branson, MO (previously posted).

rjf7g,
Very true. What was I thinking :-) Peace maybe.
GaryKD,
Great suggestions. Thanks. I will look into Mackinaw Island. We just came back to the US 3 years ago after spending 11 years in Germany so it is hard to keep my oldest interested.

I don't work for the Chamber of Commerce but the white sandy beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama are unbelievable. The seventeen year old will love them and will likely be impressed by some of the cute guys who are known to show up there.
There are more golf courses than you can play in a week, some designed by the greats such as Nicklaus and Palmer. And there are several places the five year old can be entertained.
If that is not enough there are several nice RV Parks in the area, one designed and built by this writer.
To see what the area looks like simple go to Google and click on “images” and type in Gulf Shores, Al. You will be rewarded with many pictures and sites that you may visit.
Wherever you choose I hope you have a good time.
