fishing license
I've done a brief search but don't like the conclusion, kinda like the child being told no you can't do that. For those that like to fish is there a work around for the out of state fishing license?

Not that I am aware of. If you find one I would like to know about it. Non-resident prices are always higher. Good luck!

No. Fishing and hunting licenses are issued by the states and according to their individual laws. None of them have reciprocity with other states (except for a very few specific situations where two states share a river or lake on their boundary).

Hi Brad! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Don't fish so can't answer that question. Keep her between the ditches!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

No work around and usually the out of state fees are kind of high compared. I paid as much in colorado for a 5 day fishing license as an out of stater than i did for a full year in my home state of GA for a hunting, fishing, big game all in license. It's nuts.

State has gotta get that money! NC offers a short-term license, 3 -day, 7-day, etc that are not too pricey. But they are still gonna get theirs, lol.

There have been some attempts to establish a US wide system for fishing /hunting but no results. Some states give discounts to Military IDs, age, and/or disabilities. Just varies by state.

If a state can find a way to stick it to an out-of-stater, you can bet they will, and of course, they do. Just read the rules closely and decide if you can limit the license time for the time you'll be fishing. Watch out for Alaska King Salmon stamps too. $100 for a non-res full season stamp (resident $10), and depending on the emergency orders in effect you may be limited to 1 to 3 fish. Really pricey!!! Of course you also have to pay the non-res full season regular fishing license cost above that. Non-res...$140 vs resident $29. Oh yeah, prices in AK just went up.... A LOT www.adfg.alaska.gov/static/home/pdfs/2016_2017_alaska_license_fees.pdf

Only "work around" is to fish private ponds on private property. In Ohio you can fish a private pond without a license. I believe Michigan is the same but I am not sure. Michigan does have a couple free days. I believe one is in the spring and one in the fall
I bought a non-resident annual fishing license in Michigan since we do most of our camping in MI. To help make up for some of the cost I did not buy an Ohio license this year. Also, I only use our inflatable Sea Eagle in Michigan since they don't require a registration on that size boat. Ohio would require me to regi$ter it.

As full-timers we sometimes planned our spring to fall traveling to limiting it to one state. Purchasing a license for five months of fishing didn't seem expensive. We explored the whole state and found great boondocking spots on streams or lakes. A summer spent in Colorado, Utah or Montana trout fishing is awesome!

In Texas if you stay at a State Park that has a lake that is totally within the park, you can fish for free without a license, it is included in your entry fee.
If it is a park on a bigger lake, I believe you can fish from any dock or shore are within the park.
Come to Texas!!

If I want to fish out of state I get the out of state temporary license. It's probably cheaper than the fine.
