Flagstaff Arizona area campgounds

We're looking into a full time job in Flagstaff. Can I get any feed back on the campgrounds in the area? Most of them seem to be older with fairly small sites. We're thinking of either KOA or Black Bart. We're heartened to see several are open year around campgrounds, something that is a problem in Pennsylvania.
On the web I've found there is not a lot of violent crime in Flagstaff. What is your impression of the area?

I can't comment on either of those campgrounds as we are retired military and stay at Ft Tuthill rec area when in Flagstaff. We lived in Sedona for a few years and went up to Flag often. Beautiful place, low crime, college town (NAU) and VERY snowy in the winters. Very common for I40 to be closed several times each year due to blizzard conditions. IMHO, I think I'd rather stay in a Pennsylvania open-year-round campground than one in Flagstaff!

That said, we HOPE that the forest fires now raging SW of Flagstaff will be under control soon and that the beautiful Ponderosa forests will not suffer too much damage.

Hearing from recent news, apparently their is a huge forest fire their but that is all I know

Have stayed several times at Black Bart. Older park, interior roads rather rough as I recall. Some sites on hill but dont remember being out of level. Nice dinner house on site served by college students who put on show during serving dinners. really enjoyable. Dont know how would be as permanent site but in very beautiful area and Flagstaff is on of our favorite places to visit. Does get cold and snowy in winter tho. Enjoy
