Florida travel
Does anyone know if Florida is letting people from Louisiana in yet. Have reservations in early June.

From what I understand our governor cares very little at this point.

They never blocked them, that would be unconstitutional. But they stopped the ones on I-10 and told them to self isolate for 14 days. I don't know if they still have the check points.
BTW Florida since they dropped the lockdown for most of the state has had it's infection rate drop 14%. Georgia has has a similar drop

Not sure of the source of your information, but we have NOT seen a drop in infection rates here in Florida. In fact there are over 800 new cases daily with the daily death toll hovering around 50 per day this week.
Based on what I have been seeing over the last week or so, we'll be seeing another spike in short order. Hardly anyone is paying heed to distancing or mask-wearing protocol.

Of course the number of cases are going up. They are testing more people.
The important numbers are hospitalizations and deaths. This thing is dangerous, don't kid yourself, but as in all cases the world keeps turning.

But on the other hand I'll have to agree with Toby, the number of cases should be going up as they increase testing. Here in this county anyone can get a test by making an appointment at the health dept. Cases have been increasing by 5 or so a day (total about 350) but there have been no new fatalities in what seems like three or four weeks and we only had 5 total. 4 of those came in one bunch and the last one weeks later. This county has a huge hospital capacity with three major regional hospitals too, with a major University med school.
Supposedly state wide antibody testing gets about 4% of the population has had it. 70% with no symptoms that they noticed.
The commenters above must live in Dade-Palm Beach among the NY crowd heh

The cases and deaths in Florida are simply not going down; and that is with a majority of potential cases NOT being afforded the testing.

The overall infection and death rates in Florida seem to be holding steady, but individual counties vary a lot. In rural Marion county where I am, there hasn't been a death in weeks and only a few new cases, but there were never very many here anyway. Testing is available but few bother because infection isn't rampant. Other counties, especially those with denser populations, are different.
The state continues to reduce restrictions on activities but "self-quarantine" for incoming people and "social distancing" when in public remains the byword.

I guess you haven't tried to drive to the Keys in the last couple of months. Unless you live there you won't get in.

Sure is different it seems. Polk county here in Florida has drive up no appointment no symptom no real wait in line testing. Results in a couple days. Had friends go last week just for their own curiosity.
What or who is in charge at Bradford county. I did read that the pvt labs are doing the testing but want 100$ per ...compared to the govt labs and slow service at $50. Perhaps it’s a unwillingness to absorb the cost ?

Florida check points according to my bro in law ( I have no idea about the keys) are nothing more than a California style agriculture check. Do you have any symptoms? Have you been in a hotspot ? , where are going, if your from a hotspot please self quarantine ..
have a nice day

We have reservations at Fort Pickens, I just want some beach time. So if they stop us and tell us to self quarantine and I can’t leave the campground to go to the beach I might as well turn around and go home. Hopefully by the time we get there all will be better.
