Right now if you want the cash price in the truck lanes, you need real cash. FJ/Pilot has promised a fix so that the RV loyalty card will start the truck pump and (I think) get you the cash price, but that isn't in place yet. Stay tuned...
If you can use the RV islands, use your RV card and a credit card and you get both cash price and discount.

Hi dykedelta1,
Pilot/Flying J pricing can be very confusing. Is the customer purchasing gas or diesel? Is the customer at the auto, RV or truck lanes? Will the customer use a Pilot/J loyalty card? Will the customer be paying with a credit card or cash? How much (in gallons) is the customer purchasing? arghhhhhhhhh!
I guess each of us needs to understand our own scenario when we stop for fuel; then understand how that fits into the Pilot/J pricing. Once we understand what we individually require, then we can make a decision about where we stop for fuel.
At this time, if one is at the auto or RV lanes a CC should start the pump and allow $75.00 of fuel to be pumped. If one needs more than $75.00 then one must start the fueling process all over again.

dykedelta1,
In the Car and RV lanes at FJ/Pilot, your credit card works the same as it does at most any other major station. Basic "pay at the pump" procedures, with a $75 pre-authorization so the pump stops at $75. You don't need a loyalty (RV) card and you can pump gas or diesel.
In the truck lanes, you cannot pay at the pump without a fleet authorization or (we hope soon) an RV Loyalty card. Your credit card can be used, but you have to go to the cashier first to get authorization and the pump turned on. And you pay several cents more per gallon than the cahs price.

Hi Everyone,
It seems the Pilot/J programmers are having a tough time with transitioning the J stations into the Pilot/J I/I systems.
Today I stopped at the J in Ft. Pierce, Florida. This is what happened:
1.I tried using my RV Real Value Card at truck pump # 23. After swiping my RV Real Value Card the screen said “declined see cashier”.
2.Not wanting to pay the high credit price, I traveled to the RV pumps at the same Flying J location.
3.I tried using my RV Real Value Card at RV pump #16. After swiping the RV Real Value Card the screen said “declined see cashier”.
4.I went inside and the cashier required me to provide how much fuel (in $s) I wanted? She kept both my RV Real Value Card and my AMEX card.
5.After pumping fuel I returned to the cashier. She swiped both my RV Real Value Card and my AMEX card. The sale was completed.
6.I received the cash price and the RV Real Value Discount.
Everyone should keep the faith. I know they are working on this and want the same solution all of us want. I just wanted to let everyone know the fix is not yet ready.

The pay-at-the-pump procedure has changed since the merger. Now you swipe the credit card first, then swipe the loyaty card when prompted. If you swipe the RV card first, it says "declined" because it is looking for a credit card at that point.

So if I don't register. Will I get a 3¢ discount on 20 gal?
If I do register. I will have to buy 25 gal to get a 3¢ discount.
Don't think I will register. As sometimes 20 gal. will be enough to get me to the next state where it is 10¢ a gal. cheaper for a Full fill up.

Hi Gary,
You are correct. I forgot the RV pumps are different than the truck pumps. By the time I remembered that I forgot it was too late.

Since the price of gasoline has risen, here is a caveat to watch for. Swiping the credit card first and then the Loyalty card second will get you started in the process at the RV pumps. The issue is that it will cut you off at $75.00. Unfortunately this will not allow you to reach the required 25 gallons, therefore, no discount, even if you fuel a 2nd time to $75.00. I asked inside why I wasn't given the discount and the attendant clearly pointed to the amount of fuel dispensed and told me that I needed 25 or more gallons. I complained that the system shuts off at $75.00 and I cannot reach the required 25 gallons. She said to come inside next time and the attendant can bypass the $75.00 limit and you will get your discount. She gave 2 free sodas of whatever size I wanted, which probably cost more than what I would have saved, but watch for this!

As I understood it some time ago I should be able to register my old Flying-J rewards card with the new Pilot/J site.. I tried then, without joy.
THANK YOU
Because of your post (This thread) I tried again SUCCESSFULLY.

Sounds like it is easier and better money-wise to go to Pacific Pride.

They must be getting their act a little more together, I just tried registering my card as well after failing before and now the their site seems to work.
It gave me the past usage of my card date wise but not detailed information. With a gas jobbie I don't expect I'll be using it all that often for fuel discounts
