I always use the truck lanes. Fill up, pull forward, go in and pay - leave. If I know I'm going to have lunch we pull over to the parking area after filling up and paying. I have never had a bit of problems and have had nothing but courtesy from the truckers.

TA and Pilot are not RV friendly. I'll use them but only in a desperate situation.

The RV lanes do indeed have both Gas and Diesel, and on both sides of the lane (though you may need soemone to show you how to work the outside pump)

In addition in states that have different fuel tax structures for Cars and Semi's the RV-Lane is usualy taxed at the "Personal vehicle" rate, as opposed to the "Commercial Vehicle" rate (usually less)

The one problem I have with Flying-J RV lanes is they are often designed for rigs LESS THAN 35 feet, I'm 38 plus towed

I will go out of my way to use a "J" instead of any of the other truck stops. I drive a 45 pulling an H2. Hope I don't jinx myself, but I have never had a problem using the rv lanes. The problem is when I stay over. Most times I have to park with the trucks. But I've never had a problem there either.

You are a better driver than me. My total length is about 62'. I consider the J RV lanes a safety hazard, for my length. Getting in is okay. The sharp turn to get out, combined with 4 wheelers entering and exiting at right angles to a coach/toad exit path is just too much. In addition, sometimes J restaurant delivery trucks deliver at the end of the RV fuel lanes. For me the potential for an accident is just too high.

yes there is a tight squeeze once in a while; but it just sharpens your driveing skills. I too have about 60 feet with the toad.

I've used J all the time I can. Ask for there book that tells you where they are at. I keep my book beside me as I drive. Want to know where I'm going to gas up next. Me and the little girl are never in a hurry, get out and talk to the people. Have fun, life to short.

IF you don't mind the small fee.. Most Flying-J's have ATM's in 'em. you can get genuine CASH (For usually 1.50 to 5.50 per transaction, depending on the host bank, I've never actually priced J's ATM's)

Next time I'm on the road cross country I'll have to keep an eye out for those RV lanes, never remember seeing them in the past. But, then I usually just pull into the regular car lanes because of my small size, so I may have just missed them.

The only problem I've had is tight turns exiting the RV lanes

This is often aggravated by people who park in places where parking is not all that suggested

You know, the two un-marked parking spaces at the end of the marked parking spaces

and things like that.

Then ther are the folks who pull in with thier pickup.. NOT an rv, just a pick up (But then they may be the only non-commercial Diesel pumps)
