FMCA or CoachNet?
Hello everyone.
We are planning to take delivery of our first motorcoach on Saturday. (2008 Mandalay 43A - we went big!) I'm trying to decide between CoachNet and FMCA for roadside assistance. I want to finalize something before we drive away, so what are the pros and cons of each of these programs for roadside assistance?

We have FMCA because we were able to purchase 3 years before the rates went up.
Coach net costs more, but sounds like it provides better coverage.

I had the same debate before we went full time, did all the research. Both were about equal except coach net was more expensive. Went with fmca because all the perks. Don't regret it one bit , fmca is awesome. We have everything through fmca, never a complaint on our end

For roadside assistance I use State Farm. They have towed me 3 times over the last 20 years and it has been flawless. The last tow was 52 miles. They also will provide up to two hours of mechanic's time if needed to get you going (locksmith or tire changing etc.) .
Oh it is expensive....cost me $7.60 per year.

Some things to consider. - Will your roadside assistance tow you to where YOU want to be taken, or will they only take you to the first shop that says they can fix your problem.
- Will your roadside assistance tow you from a campground (private property) or do you have to be on a highway to me towed?
- Is there a limit of the number of miles they will pay to tow you? Number of miles per year? Number of tows needed per year?

If I am stuck on the side of the road in nowhere'sville, I don't want the a "bargain" roadside assistance, I want the BEST. That is why I have CoachNet. Over the past 18 years I have used their services a half-dozen times for flat tires, blowouts, dead batteries, and lockouts. They have been outstanding.

I really don't think there's a lot of difference between the majors, CoachNet, Good Sam, or FMCA. I would much rather support FMCA! JMHO

We had good sam. Biggest waste of Money we made. Can't even compare to our current fmca. It's like trying to decide between a prevost or a Coleman. No offense to you Coleman's out there.

One little known fact, most roadside providers do not have their own trucks, or they may not even be the company that contacts towing companies on your behalf. The roadside provider companies I am familiar with subcontract with a company, or several companies depending on where you are located. that specializes in finding the necessary tow trucks. There could be several "top roadside providers" using the same dispatch company to find available trucks!
My last tow, a few years ago, we were in a very bad part of town at 'dark thirty' or 9:30pm. My provider did several outstanding things for us. They called every 15 minutes keeping us up to date on trying to find a available towing service and response timing, and they called the local police asking them to make checkups on us. The police on their first visit told me not to venture outside. Then she pointed out suspected drug houses and told us to call 911 if anyone came around.

I’ve been with Coach Net for 12 years and have been very happy with them. They are very responsive. I have had to use them several times, once for a tow. They do exactly what I expect them to do. Besides they have a help center with technical support that can solve a lot of issues over the phone. Yes they are a little more expensive, but I feel that I’m getting what I’m paying for.

Coach net has been considered the Best by many. Ive used them with one fail and one good exp. I honestly believe where you break down is more relevant to good service than Who you use. They all call the same exact tow truck.
By the way Escapees offers safe ride , I believe the same exact service FMCA contracts with for 50 bucks less. Since I'm both a Escapee and FMCA member the Escapees deal is better. but the past 2 years have been incident free so no first hand knowledge

That chart is misleading, the Good Sam ERS plan it lists doesn't cover motorized RV's, only towables. The GS premium plan covers motorized RV's.
