FMCAssist vs Good Sam Travel Assist

Which travel assist plan seems to be better, FMCA's travel assist or Good Sam's. FMCA includes it with membership, but GS it's additional.

I'm in the camp of not wanting to depend on someone else in a time of need. As an alternative, I've been shopping insurance for our soon to be delivered new coach, and most of the quotes include roadside assistance for a lot less than a separate policy costs

I'm asking about the medical assist program, not roadside assistance. Already have roadside thru insurance.

Many get the two different services confused. There is a difference between travel assistance and FMCAssist. Travel assistance which is roadside assistance is for your vehicles. FMCAssist is repatriation insurance which if 100 miles from home will transport you and your copilot to a facility to care for your medical problem. Should death occur, FMCAssist will cremate or embalm (your choice) and transport remains to location of your choice. Also, FMCAssist will transport your vehicles to your home, limited to $5,000. FMCA also has roadside assistance for your vehicles that must be separately purchased.

Good Sam offers the same type plan. They call it Travel Assist as opposed to Roadside Assistance.

I just wondered if anyone had any idea which may be better.

That's one of the reasons we belong to FMCA! Why pay GS extra for what you can get for free from FMCA? I also have the FMCA Roadside Assistance!

We have had excellent service with Coach Net. I have heard mixed reviews things about both FMCA and Good Sam. Do a search on this site.

FMCAssist = $25 per year (included in annual membership)

Good Sam Travel Assist = $100 per year for 2 people

Other than that it looks like both companies offer similar coverage.

See post #4. They are asking about medical assist programs, not roadside assistance.

If that question was for me, I think it was $40 back when I joined, later raised to $50 and just recently to $75 per year.
