It is attached with bungee cords. Two inside to the braces inside the trunk and the lid just closes on them. Two underneath to the bumper crush points. It is wired to plug into the tow light harness.
The hitch in the picture is a light duty one that I added to tow the empty dolly with when needed. I have since changed that out to a type II hitch so I am going to modify the sign to attach to the hitch this year.
I did this for a couple of reasons, one is the 407 toll road nearby will charge you for the car as well as the MH if the plate is visible.Also the local drivers here often fixate on looking at the tail lights, basically driving off the car in front instead of looking ahead.
The best part is I get more horn honking with the sign only it's the happy honk when people go by.
