Freightliner insane pricing

I replaced my secondary dash air pressure gauge in 2018 at a cost of about $170.00. Coming back from trip Sunday gauge started leaking air which actually went zero by the time I parked in my storage spot. Trouble shooting. The gauge I found that If squeezed the the gauge from back to front the leak stopped ( I originally thought leak was from the air line quick disconnect) . I put a clamp on the gauge and tightened it down until leak stopped ,then air up tanks and it held air without leak. On Monday I called Freightliner for a replacement was flabbergasted when told the price was now $656.00. As a side note I recently purchased a top of the line LG washing machine on sale for $695.00. However since I needed the gauge I bought it. Very disappointed in Freightliner .

Unfortunately it's not just Freightliner. I replaced our speedometer head a couple of years ago and it was around $100. I was linking another member to the same replacement recently and it had gone to over $450 and it's not Freightliner.

That's crazy expensive and should last so much longer than 4years. Not the same but we have basic mid quality gauges at work ,over 30years old. Get more than 4years of cheap ones on the side of cheap modular regulator. Those still usually work until they get physically damaged or unready dirty inside .

Freightliner doesn't make the gauges. So usually there are generic versions.

My Freightliner shop is expensive (more for RVs than trucks), doesn't take appointments, has many inexperienced workers, even though an "Oasis" dealer, could not even find the female plug in the RV to plug in their computer, and charge 10% of the total bill for 'shop supplies.' I avoid them if at all possible.
