Front wheel weeping oil.

We just finished our Bounder 35E pre-winter storage inspection and noticed one wheel (front passenger side 22.5) has started streaking oil out the wheel hub. All others appear dry.
Opened cap and saw sight glass half full of oil surrounding the bearing center.
Is this something we should catch immediately?
What causes it and how do we stop it?
What oil is right for wheel bearing use?

Where exactly do you see the leak? I'm assuming you have the Freightliner chassis, and if you see some oil in the backside of the tire, then there is probably a oil seal leak that needs attention. Oil to use is a good quality 80/90 gear oil.

The wheel hub seals need to be replaced. I recommend this be done before storing for the winter to minimize the mess and to protect the bearings and races from rust.

Wheel seals sometimes fail for no apparent reason. I've replaced many over the years and have yet to find a specific cause other than poor workmanship.

Agree that its likely a seal that is leaking. The oil level you see may be very close to normal. Some sight glasses have a 'full level' line marked on them - in general, the oil level is at about the 'half-full level' as you described.

There are "Oil Level LOW" and "Oil level FULL" marks on my hub covers...(methinks yours may simply be over filled)?

I use Lucas hub oil: Hub Oil

You say half full, full is below the plug if it over full pull out the plug and drain some out. There is a tiny hole in the middle of the plug for venting pressure. There also should be lines on the clear plastic marking full.
