full time financing

I have read that it's virtually impossible to get financing if you intend to full time in a MH. Surely you can get around this some how? I wonder if you used a family members address as your permenent address - possible?

Its what I do, also allows me to register the vehicle in a part of the state where smog inspections aren't necessary for registration and the insurance rates are lower.

I have several fulltiming friends who financed their MHs.

They use a mail forwarding service like most all fulltimers.

Check with the lenders.

We have been fulltimers since 1998 and during all those years, we've bought RVs and automobiles, financing them using our mail forwarding address. Have never had a problem getting a loan...most recently, just this past spring.

Never heard of that problem and we know many fulltimers who buy & finance the usual things in the usual way. Guess it depends on your overall credit position. Lack of a permanent physical address is surely a risk factor from the bank's point of view, but it's only one of dozens of things that go into a credit-worthiness score.

It may be more of a problem with some lenders than with others. For example, one credit card company wanted a copy of a utility bill showing our address to be sent in with the application for a new card - not possible for a full-timer. We wanted a new credit card with a better reward program, but we couldn't get a new card with this company even though we already had one with them because we couldn't provide a utility bill. Another credit card company had no such requirement, and we easily got a new card with them.

It would pay to ask around.
