Garmin RV 760

This is for anyone who owns a Garmin RV 760 with software version 5.6. Recently, our unit was very slow to identify satellites and yesterday as we were driving the NY Thruway north of Albany and continuing on I88 towards Bingimton NY the unit frequently lost satellite connections. Yes, it was cloudy, but our Sirius and the Rand McNally unit that came with the coach continued to work fine. My question is, has anyone else encountered these issues, and, if yes, what did you do about it?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
OWV

We have traveled that Route many times and have found that we will lose cell phone service around Sidney but my Rand Mcnally portable unit will work fine.

I have a 770. Yes we have had that issue. We just waited until nearby radio interference faded or we passed out of range of the interference.

Antennas in different places on your rig may be more or less sensitivity to interference depending on direction to satellites. The 760 antenna is inside your rig and may see interference in some directions better than the satellites in other directions. The built in GPS may have an outside antenna.

I wish you good luck and happy trails ahead!

My did it out west here. Was really bad traveling north or south. Updating the software fixed it, got the advice right here.
