Since you are a Coastie go to the Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PenFed) and get a VISA Platinium Rewards Card. You get 5% off when used at the pump. Their interest rates are low also.

Thanks. So what percent discount does the BP card give you on diesel and how do they give you the cash back?
I am trying to compare it to the Petagon Federal Visa. Like I said the PenFed gives you 5% cash discount which is subtracted from the monthly statement amount due. If the BP Visa is better than that then i will switch. I am always looking for the best deal.

I have the PENFED Visa. Good card, quick, automatic refund on next statement and no limit.

Pen-Fed Visa for me. Anything better than 5% (on fuel paid at the pump) back in the form of a credit on your monthly bill? Let us know.

I don't use any gas companies cards anymore. Found they were just a source of agitation. Most only give you a discount on the first $100 or something.
The best one I ever had was a Exxon/Mobil card. Used it for years and was getting a consistent 2% discount. This was when gas and diesel was $1-$2/gal. Maybe five years ago they stopped. I called them but was told it was up to the individual station whether you got a discount or not. Of course the stations had a different story.
Long story short, it depends on who you talk to as to what you get. But the bottom line is... not much of a savings.
The BIG print givith, but the 'small print' takith away.
It's the same with the present pilot/FJ discount cards. There always seems to be a reason it doesn't apply.

Hi MICHIGAN CAMPER,
Thanks for using cash to purchase fuel. You help fund all the cash back I get when using a CC and the PFJ. The CCs of AMEX and VISA work as advertised. Between the two of them I receive over $1.4K per year in cash back to me. The PFJ Loyalty program works as advertised. Simple as that.
Over time programs do change. One must keep up with the changes and make adjustments to take advantage of programs that fit one's purchasing habits. I'm not one to pay more when others are able to pay less. Are you?

I use the Pen Fed card and sometimes the Costco Amex. The biggest thing that bugs me is that sometimes the stations code the purchase as other than fuel purchase. I strictly purchase fuel at the pump, but it still amazes me that when I receive my statement, I'll see it coded as other than fuel.

Gary,
Your "Thanks' are premature. I didn't say that I pay CASH. Nor did I say that I DON"T use a CC.
What I said was,... well, YOU can read, can't you.
You say, "The PFJ Loyalty program works as advertised. Simple as that.". I say, No, they don't.
Just reread posts from this thread if you think P&FJ cards work.
There are plenty of PO'd customers that are ready to (or already have) give up on trying to jump through hoops that are always moving.
To put it simply, I find that there are to many other fuel stations that have lower prices than P/FJ, that accept my Discover card where I get a steady discount 'on every purchase'.
Glad you continue to make your purchases at P/FJ.
MY stations need the competition.
