Gas Prices Temporarily Up - Hurricane Harvey

Just read an article about gas prices rising due to the hurricane in TX

Quote: A gallon of gas is a penny more expensive than it was a day ago, but it will ultimately cost between five and 15 cents more, according to Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for the Oil Price Information Service. Prices should be back down by next week.
Platforms and rigs are already being shut down in anticipation of the storm..

Gas prices will jump thanks to Hurricane Harvey - Aug. 24, 2017

Just went and filled up

We will be leaving California tomorrow. I think I can afford to wait to get gas outside the state and still save some $$.

Here in central Illinois, at various locations, regular gas went up $.50/gal yesterday. Because it can.

Last weekend ,regular gas in Vancouver BC Canada , jumped to 141.9 CD per liter. Up 0.12 over night
Price increase blamed on demand , due to people traveling to get to the eclipse path of totalitarity, any old excuse.

Approx $4.05 USD per US gallon at current exchange rate. If my calculations are correct .

Saw gas for $1.97 today in Tulsa,,, diesel here in AR is $2.28 as of today where I bought it... Same old story,,, millions of gallons of oil and fuel sitting in storage tanks, and the big oil companies rip us off every chance they get... Price should be more stable. My Opinion......

Right now , diesel is slightly " cheaper " than regular gas , about a nickel a liter.
So roughly $3.80 USD/Gal.

Always get their money. I've noticed when gas goes ⬆️, diesel goes ⬇️, and the reverse.

I should have added that these calculations are based on Vancouver BC prices , and that's like buying fuel in Needles CA. about the most expensive you'll find.
Anyhow to explain the calculation from Canadian dollar price per liter to US dollar per gal.

price in CD per liter X 3.73 ( liters in US gallon) X current exchange rate.
So 1.42 for ease of calculation.
X 3.73
= 5.29
X 0.80 Today's close of the Canadian Dollar against the US dollar.
+ $4.24 USD/US Gal. My first calculation was based on last weeks exchange rate.

Lots of taxes involved in fuel prices in Canada , and Vancouver has a " Rapid Transit Support Tax " that makes fuel there , very expensive. Some areas in Alberta , prices are below a dollar a liter.
