Gassing up inexperience
I know it sounds silly to you more experienced Rv owners, but I have trouble since I am new to this. What is best way to tell when MH is in position to pump as far as not up far enough or up too far for the hose to reach? I just cant seem to be able to tell by the mirrors.

There is a hatch (for the outside shower) right above the gas filler, that I can see in the mirror. I position off of that.
I always try to use an outside pump island, where I have plenty of room for the rear end to swing after clearing the pump island. Remember that everything after the rear wheels will swing wide when you turn after fueling the rig.

As the others said, with practice you should find that there is something on your RV you can use as a reference point to tell when you are about where you need to be. A lot of trial and error and testing and tuning off a reference point and you'll get it.

There has to be something on the side of the coach that you can use for a reference. I know my fill is just behind the rear wheel well. When I enter the gas island I open my driver window, drive very slowly and watch for the flair of the wheel well to be in line with the pump. When it is I now know I'm in position. Simple!

I know that the fuel filler is right at 20 feet back from my position in the driver seat. I pull up to where I am sitting right by the pump, pick a point about 20' ahead, then pull up to there. Eyeballing 20' out from where I am sitting is easy (for me at least).
Don't stop....just gauge the 20' as I ease up.

About 5 ft after my butt or drivers seat passes the pump I stop. 99% of the time I am using a truck stop

That's how I do it too! Mine is only a few feet back so it's much easier!

My previous coach fuel filler was at the rear on the driver's side. I would watch for the pump to become visible in the rear camera and stop as soon as I saw it. Worked perfectly every time.

Gas cap has a thether attached to it. I put a colored cable tie on it to give a reference point.

If you have a fuel door just open it up you can see it in the mirror and use it as a reference.

Practice, Practice, Practice.
Heres a little trick we use a lot in aviation:
if its sunny, look for shadows, they can help you judge where you're at. i.e. the shadow of the pumps or the shadows of the MH

take one of those half round rubber door bumpers, paint it red or green (in case you are color blind) stick it to the fill door. makes it easy to see.
