Generac ix2000 generator.

I was at Costco and saw the Generac ix2000.
I am saving up for the Honda, but this looks good.
Honda vs Generac
$1k vs $480
2000w vs 2200w peak
1800w vs 2000w running
I like the Honda for the sound, fuel economy, run time and reliability. I've heard the Honda.
Anything else to look at?
What can anyone say for the Generac?

The Generac name has been around for a long time.

If your not the DIY type, see if there are repair centers to supply parts and service it.

Honda has a good repair network.

In the generator world, Generac does not have the best of reputations.

I'd get the Honda.

Noise is a huge factor as well. Doesn't seem like that big a deal at first - but it will turn into one.

I think they should be called Genewreck generators. Can't beat the Honda.

I can vouch for the generac line. Put 8000 hours on our 40qp with little to no maintenance. I have heard the little generac run and I cant tell a sound difference between the two. I would save the money and buy the generac. Ive looked closely at them and they seem like a solid well built unit.

We had a Genejunk propane unit in our '00 DSDP. Overheated in hot weather right when you needed it the most and guzzled propane. In 5 days and 90° weather it shut down twice, went through two 10 gallon tanks and most of our onboard 40 (32 usable) propane and people complained about the noise too.
That's the LAST non-liquid, cooled non-diesel generator I'll own for RV use!!

Also, when checking noise specs be sure they use the same measurements. Some measure close up and others much further away to make theirs look quieter.
