Generac L P generater

Starts and runs great for about 1hour then stutters, pops and loses power and then dies......HELP

Two things come to mind. You didn't mention the year of the generator, so the first possible problem may not be relevant, but if you have points and a condenser they may be the problem. I've seen that before.

Tha other problem could be the LP fuel regulator. They are know to have problems with oil build up from the LP. They can be removed and reconditioned, but I have never done it.

Another possibility... Low oil level shut-down...
After running for a time, the viscosity of the hot oil will not "make" the contacts of the low oil sensor. The popping MAY be due to a "non-conventional" shut down which MAY leave the ignition energized to ignite the fuel-starved engine.
Be persistent... you'll eventually find the gremlin!
