Getting rain off top of slideouts?

We have a 14 Fleetwood bounder classic. The slides have covers on them. When it rains, water sits on top of the living room slideout. Because of the covers you can't see the water. When it's time to pack up the next day after a rain, we'll bring the slides in and as soon as I hit the brakes it's a freaking deluge.

Last time I even put the slide back out without the jacks down hoping the rain would roll off but it did not. What am I supposed to do here? Specialty squeegee and a ladder?

Hmmm.... we had covers & the slides stayed dry. Somehow your covers aren't working as they should. Can you post some pictures?

Actually I was thinking the covers were permeable, so your comment makes me realize that the hole I jabbed in the living room cover this past winter trying to break ice off so I could close up is letting water down on top of the slide. The right side slides shed the water off the top when we close up so that all makes sense. I keep forgetting about that hole since I can't see it. Good times.

Anything better than some heavy duty duct tape to patch that cover? I have some patches for my boat cover but they are not holding up that great. At least the camper is stored under cover.

Your top seal on the slideout should clear most of the water off when bringing it in.

You can stuff a big towel up there after you bring it in to slow and absorb the most of it.

They make awning tape to do repairs. I would take the awning tape and attach to the top and underside so the the tape would at least stick to itself where the hole is.

We had the same problem with our old slide toppers, which had become porous. Especially, of course, the one just aft of the driver's seat.

With the new ones, the tops of the slides stay dry. Back to only one shower a day!

10-4 that awning tape is the same tape I got for the boat cover. Should be good for a while. I've been cautious with the manual jack functions but I'll try it out as well. Gracias

Pretty slick! Seems like our slide is too long for the cover to ever hold up to a slightly significant amount of rain so that support is smart.

Your upper wiper seal is not doing it's job. Like a squeegee it wipes the water off when retracting.

I would have it looked at. It might let water inside the side area. Not good.

Ditto: Slide seal is bad. And your awning cover is likely a bit dated if it is letting water in. Might be time to order a new cover and a slide seal. Do both jobs at once.

Shouldn't the wiper seal take care of that? I don't have toppers on mine and only had water inside once in a torential downpour when I found the glue on one of my seals had let go on one of the corners. Hasn't happen again since I fixed that.
