We're fulltiming and heading to Glacier NP later this month. What do we need to know? Any stories, thoughts, tips welcome. We're especially interested in Going to the Sun Road. Understand length is 21 feet max. Any width restrictions? We can park the 5er and drive the truck, but it's got duallies. Any

We arrived at St. Mary's, MT KOA about August 10, 2005 on a 3 month jaunt. I highly recommend that KOA as a base for exploring Glacier NP and visiting the Canadian side of this wondrous area.
We listened to the KOA owner and left our Chev dually there, instead taking the Blackfoot owned tour bus. They pick you up at the CG office. We were really pleased with that decision. We didn't have to contend with driving the narrow, constantly under re-construction Highway to the Sun road. The bus was a 26 passenger school bus, with heat! The Blackfoot driver regaled us with stories he heard about the area when a child. The red bus tour line is open top and unheated. This means a lot when you near the top, very frequent rain falls and the temperature dropped from the 70's in St. Mary's, to about 40 at the top of the road. Those poor folks were wet and very cold at the lodge, they bought up every hot drink in the vending machines; and, they were only 1/4 of the way into the trip.
The Eastern side of Glacier is not nearly as crowded as the more popular Western side, thus it is a relaxed and easy-going atmosphere. Stop at Browning,MT; home of the Blackfoot reservation headquarters, museum, and many stores to peruse.
I can go on for pages, but you get my feelings about this area.
