Glass Installers Sealant

What is the sealant I've seen Glass Installers using in a pump oil can? They go around the edges to seal every thing when there done. Totally clear and about the viscosity of oil?
Thanks

You may be talking about a product called seam sealer, but I have never seen it used in the way you describe. That job is usually handled by caulking. Seam sealer is used to seal screws that may be installed through the fixed portion of an operating window at the sill. We used a pump applicator similar to the oil can pump that you describe and the product we used was almost clear.

Seam sealer is also widely used by the auto industry to literally hold cars together. They are spot welded at the factory, but seam sealer does most of the work.

Here is a link to auto type seam sealer, but there are other sources and products. https://www.amazon.com/Custom-Shop-B...dDbGljaz10cnVl

Ok, I'll admit to being clueless here.

I've seen (and done) a lot of glass installations and never have seen this done.

3M has a clear primer that is brushed onto the glass itself. Not pumped, it's like water and would run everywhere.
What I suspect you saw is 3M Windo-Weld Resealant. It's black though. Runny enough to be pumped for sure though I haven't seen it used that way. I don't know how you'd clean the pump out when done. It's for when you have a tiny leak after a windshield installation as it can "run" when poured where the regular glass sealer is more caulk-like and just sits where you put it. It can also be used as an additional "belts and suspenders" sealer after installation with regular sealant. I have to admit to doing that myself. If there are little oil can type pumps cheap enough to just throw away after use I have to admit it sounds like a great way to apply it. (One version comes in a little can like liquid glue.)

Thanks for everyone's input!
I will have to track down one of the installers I seen using it!
Thanks
