Gnats in the Black Tank or drain pipes?

Hello. Ok... Its been a busy and costly few days sinve these very annoying PESTS have show up! 😰😞😞 Anyone else evet experience this?? I cant see WHERE theyre getting in but i notice that when i Flush the toilet there are some hiding inside the inside ring inside top of toilet where the water SPINS into the bowl... Have tried the vinegar dishsoap water spray solution and the vinegar seems to be drawing them more unless im wrong bout that and there were that many anway... But have placed moth balls and cedar blocks and flytapes all round inside the camper and also been pouring bleach down all the drains... After 3 days this SEEMS to have severely dwindled their numbers, but aye aye aye! ANYONE?? Do they LIVE in the BLACK TANK or in the drain pipes? Or i hate to think this but in the FRESH WATER TANK?? 😞😞😞HELLLP PLEASE?? Thank you!

Durango Dave,

Your thread doesn't state whether or not you resolved problem. Did you find a remedy?

Mosquitoes, flying teeth, lady bugs and gnats...basically anything that flies, bites or just being pesky, are the camping gods way of testing our resolve to enjoy nature's bounty. Kinda comes with the territory.

We've had some really bad buggy infestations inside the MH...vacuums are not only for cleaning the carpet.

Bleach in all the pipes seems to have cured it for now.

Yup, little nat, sewer flies. Black and Gray tank. DO NOT USE IN FRESH TANK...

Had this problem many years ago in a business I ran. We used Dursban, specifically, Chlorpyrifos.

Put 4 oz in the tank with about 2 gallons of water, put a tablespoon in each drain (P trap).

Go for a drive to slosh it around, let it sit for at least a day.

They are attracted to vinegar. One home remedy we have used is apple cider vinegar in a dish with a bit of water and a drop of dish soap. The gnats are attracted to the smell and when they land, they drown, because the soap has changed the surface tension of the liquid. When they have "nested" in the dirt of a flower pot, this got rid of them nicely! Just sat the small dish right in the pot. All of that to say I don't believe using vinegar will help.[emoji5]

DRAIN GNATS have successfully been EVICTED!

THANK YPU EVERYONE who responded!!! I sure APPRECIATE all the suggestions! MY SOLUTION/S were: 1. Emptied B&G tanks completely. Then added water and bleach to both to sit in it 2. I had been using apple cider vinegar as a naturalpathic flea repellant on my cat and YES THE AP CID VINEGAR DEFINITELY ATTRACTS THEM!!! I have since DISCONTINUED the use of A.C.VINEGAR in my garden for pests and on my cat for pests...and WALLA!!! GNATS FLEW AWAY!!! P.s. i did use the A.C Vinegar n water n dishsoap in cups around the camper to trap the ones already inside n it got rid of those. And i hvnt seen many since then; just the ocassional one or 2.
