Good Advice

Am fairly new to RVing. Shucks, I haven't even been out on my first trip yet. But reading all these posts sure helps prepare me for what to expect and how to do some things when I first set up. We will be leaving this Labor Day weekend for a campground nearby. Wish us luck. Keep posting those tips and I'll keep reading and learning.

No matter what you do, make sure your significant other has a good time on this first trip or it will be your last!!!

Take your time with everything you do. Check everything twice until you make good habits. Ain't nothing going to happen that has not happened to someone else.

If you want to double check your preparations, there are lots of Check Lists online. I combined several for a custom list. I still look over it before I leave to be sure I've done the little things...like feed the cat if we leaving him at home.

Have a great trip.

Leave the cat at home?!!!! Never, we take all six with us. They have a great time and one enjoys his walks on a leash.

Hmmm...nothing went wrong??? Sounds fishy to me. It's just no fun if something doesn't go wrong.

Think about it....if nothing ever went wrong this website wouldn't exist. If everybody starts not having troubles we're out of business.

I hope you haven't started a trend.............

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the forum.

Well I did say no major problems. We did have a couple of minor ones to deal with. But we got those resolved pretty quick.

Glad to hear that the first of what we hope will be many trips went reason well. One of the things that I have done over the years is to keep a pocket notebook on me or close at hand when out in the Camper/RV and to write down, as soon as possible, things I forgot or need to address for the next trip. Dumb as it sounds, Several years ago DW and I sat down and made a list of things, in order, of what we needed to do to set up and then take the unit down, like "do slide outs before leveling" and after seeing a couple of RVs and site facilities damaged because someone forgot to unhook something or insure the jacks were in fact up. After I think I've got it all stowed and put away, I do one additional walk around, and then she does the final one once I say I'm ready to go. Never kept it as an actual check list, but it got us to the point of having an organized procedure and a follow up.
