When that expansion occurred, Flying J likely told TSD that they already had a program for RVs that being Good Sam and since TSD expanded membership to a class not in the original agreement they cancelled the discounts.

Months ago I brought this up in these discussions: Do the truck stop companies know that TSD is passing its discount along to RVers and keeping a cut? And I specifically mentioned P/FJ, since they already had a discount for RVers.
A typical response was, "I doubt any of them give a flying pickle about whether that 200 gallons of #2 went into a Peterbuilt or a Tiffin. They got paid a price they agreed to accept." Well, it turns out P/FJ does care what it goes into after all. So there goes that argument.
And this makes me wonder even more about the others because if they wanted to offer a discount to RVs they could, but choose not to. It could be that they just never thought of it and are happy to have TSD do it for them, or it could be that they want the RVs to pay the greatly inflated price on the pump, to help make up for the discounts they give truckers. We don't know, but we do know that P/FJ says it was unaware that TSD was passing its trucker discount on to RVs, and once it found out, cancelled that discount.
People want to point their fingers at Good Sam for slimy business practices, even though we don't have any actual facts that say how much (if any) of the discount for RVers they keep for themselves, and we don't even know if Good Sam pushed P/FJ to cancel the TSD contract.
But we also don't know what TSD divulged to any of the other truck stop companies. And that's all I've wanted to know all along: are the truck stop companies okay with it? Can TSD show us something that says they are, so there's no concern that we're participating in an unethical practice?

I suggest we all stop posting about this and be thankful for the opportunity we've been given.

I guess this is what I am asking about. On the sing up page it has these two radio buttons.
Shipping:* Yes No Overnight shipping + $50 fee plus the 48 hr processing fee
Processing:* Yes No 48 hr processing + $20 fee (guarantees mailed within 48 hrs)

Those are for faster processing - if you need it asap - when I signed up - it was taking 2 to 3 weeks to get the card.

Under federal law it is illegal to require submission of your SSN for identification purposes.

Except in the case of certain financial transactions, and applying for jobs, applying for credit, applying for a bank account...
This is applying for an effective 3-day credit account, because the fuel purchase is applied to TSD's fleet account and then they deduct from your account with the ACH transaction.
Also - for retired military, your SSN is already out there as your service number anyway... And for everyone else, your SSN was likely part of the Experian data breach or the Target data breach or the Home Depot data breach, or the Macy's data breach... It's already out there. Verification of the information when applying for credit or freezing your account with the credit bureaus is the only answer. The information isn't that hard to come by otherwise, it's all about whether it is useful or not.
TSD isn't running your credit report for this. I have worked in data security and have better than an average knowledge of how this stuff works... TSD isn't an issue, they aren't trying to rip anyone off. You give up more vital information when making a return to Home Depot and they demand your driver's license, than you give to TSD.

Chiming in here. . .
• I used the TSD card at both FJ and Pilot Sunday and again Monday en route to AMS, Hampton, GA from Sarasota, Florida . No issues at either location and discounts were substantial. Guess the pumps did not get the word from Marcus. . . BTW, last four of your social become your PIN number as well as your log in.

I hope that's not because you fear that the trucker discount isn't intended for RVs and you don't want the truck stops to find out that's what it's being used for.
That sounds at least as questionable as what Good Sam is accused of doing.

I’m not sure how this is good sams fault and not the stops fault since they are the ones who made the agreement with GS to be their exclusive discount option. I blame the stations not GS. They didn’t have to agree to that at all. Their fault for doing so.
