I'm happy to answer questions about the TSD program, no reason it can't be public. I was just trying to avoid cluttering up THIS thread with it since this thread needs to be a call to action - CALL BAD SAM / MARCUS LEMONIS and express your displeasure with this move.

The TSD program is a fleet operator (Tri State Delivery) that operates a LOT of commercial trucks. They get to negotiate for better diesel fuel discounts (yes, diesel only) based on the volume of fuel that is being purchased. The access to their fleet has been expanded to RV users by TSD themselves, as we are large diesel customers too. The payoff for them is a (very reasonable) 10%-of-any-discount-received, which in practice is about 4-5 cents per gallon of a "fee" for the 40-50 cents per gallon off the CASH price on the sign.

The fuel is pumped, and then TSD charges the user the next business day via ACH for the transactions, with their fee. From a real user's perspective, the realized savings are about $7 for every 20 gallons pumped. The card itself is safer than a credit or debit card b/c it can ONLY be used for diesel fuel and ONLY at a very limited number of vendors, and ONLY with a "control number" which is known only to you and TSD. I know of zero incidents with these cards and TSD has been operating their fleet for many years.

Currently Loves offers the best discount at around 40 cents per gallon, PFJ HAD been around 32 cents per gallon and had better (IMHO) rewards with the loyalty cards, and neither had transaction fees. T/A Petro charges a 65 cent transaction fee AND the discount wasn't as good... But a few days ago Loves said they were implementing a 40 cent transaction fee, and now this nonsense from PFJ because of BadSam.

I am no fan of Good Sam’s, but a contract is a contract. I can’t fault GS for requiring P/FJ follow their legal agreements. The ones you should be complaining to is P/FJ since they were the ones violating a legal contract.

Funny. No, this is not a rumor. It is direct from TSD, just so happens that their account on Facebook is used for more direct communication with their fleet members.

Here you go, read for yourself:

This is from the TSD website:

Quote:
As of the end of the week, Pilot is officially retracting their discounts from our program due to their relationship with Good Sams. Good Sams has an exclusive contract with Pilot which prevents them from giving any discounts to the RV community through any other means. Every other discount is still in place.

Perhaps, but as users of both programs, we have standing to make our opinions heard. They have just as much ability to void this contract, as they do to choose to enforce it. If they feel like it will COST them more money (through losing members) than they will make by enforcing it, they will likely back off.

Well I can cross them off my fuel stops. I hope nationwide RVers boycott their establishments.

Here is the link where you can sign up TSD Fuel Discount Program

I am not a big fan of Good Sam, but they have a contract with Pilot and they have every right to enforce compliance. Those of us on this and other forums that are aware of the TSD program are in the minority of RV's on the road. Many of them, diesel and gas, use the Good Sam discount program at Pilot locations.

As more people become aware of the TSD program, why on earth would Good Sam listen to anyone that suggested they should knowingly allow that program to compete with theirs when they have a contract in place?

Now of course we as consumers armed with this knowledge have an easy choice. Just don't fuel at Pilot locations.

I wonder what percentage of PFJ total fuel sales is accounted for by RV's? Five percent perhaps.

It's not a rumor. TSD themselves posted it.

In my view, the contract was entered into by *both* parties. I myself cannot blame one more than the other...but there's plenty to go around, I suppose!

I don't use enough diesel fuel towing our 5er now to have significant concerns but reading this it appears that you can use either card for a discount but just can't 'stack' them for a double discount. Correct?

I don't do fakebook so I can't read the statement from TSD. How does P/FJ know whether I am fueling an RV or 18 wheeler? I just checked the TSD app and the local prices at P/FJ are just a few cents higher than Loves, just like it was when I signed up.

I cancelled my GS P/FJ fuel card a while ago as I could find better prices using gasbuddy.
