Good Sam forces Pilot / FJ to quit TSD discount program

This is complete garbage - Anyone who has enjoyed the TSD fuel discount, if you have a BadSam card, we need to band together and contact them - blast them for doing this.

PFJ informed TSD that as of this week (either the middle of the week or the end) TSD will no longer have ANY fuel discount at Pilot or Flying J stations - because Good Sam informed them that they have an "exclusivity" deal with PFJ, and therefore RVs are NOT ALLOWED to have any other discount than the crap 8 cents that Good Sam has negotiated.

Full information: The discounts DO NOT STACK so if someone is utilizing the TSD card to pay, they WOULD NOT get anything other than the TSD price, not 8 cents less, no Good Sam benefits (of which there are none to speak of)... And since there is no stacking of the discount, USING THE TSD CARD DID NOT COST GS ANY MONEY. THIS IS JUST BEING PUNITIVE, THERE WAS NO REASON TO DO THIS.

Good Sam has just decided that RVers need to be paying 30+ cents more per gallon for fuel.

I for one am going to call GS and tell them what I think of this behavior, and likely demand a refund on the remaining term of my greatly-extended membership... I want no part of that company any longer. Hopefully anyone else that feels the same will also make their voice heard, it is the only way that anything will change.

If true, this is a very bad PR move for the Good Sam/Camping World conglomerate. Sorry, but they just can’t have it all! For my part, the TSD discount at Loves is deeper so that’s where I’ll be spending my fuel money. Pilot and FJ will also be losers in this.

If you don't know what the TSD fuel discount is - it is between 40 and 60+ cents per gallon discount at several major truck stop chains, notably: Loves, TA/Petro, and formerly PFJ. The discount is VERY GOOD because it leverages the power of a driving fleet to get fuel cheaper than the price on the sign.

I'd be happy to give you more details and help you get signed up. I've been using it for close to 8 months now, and already saved a BUNDLE on fuel. PM me and we can go from there.

The TSD discount has never been that special at P/FJ.

I think every time I planned on filling up it's been at a Loves, even if a P/FJ is across the street.

Haven't done any business with GS/Camping World in years.

Basically don't care

I saved about $0.60/gal at Pilot yesterday. Has anybody confirmed this post with TSD?

Call Marcus Lemonis (or his answering and call screening service) at (866) 232-8990 to complain. He's the head of Camping Gander World Mountain / Bad Sam, so if they hear from enough annoyed RVers they might decide to un-screw this decision.

Information right now (likely from the first line customer agents) is that GS has no idea what's going on either - but I wouldn't expect the first level CSRs to know anything anyway. This is a business unit decision, and fixing it needs to come from the top down.

My information is coming directly from TSD via their Facebook group.

As for the discounts - in November, TSD had negotiated an updated discount with PFJ that was nearly as good as with Loves. In practice, I was seeing about 40 cents average from Loves and 32 cents from PFJ.

BUT PFJ was also giving 5 points per gallon as reward points, which brought the difference to about 3-5 cents more expensive on the PFJ side. PFJ also offers partial shower credits for smaller fill-ups of 14-49 gallons, where Loves is 50+ only for a full shower and a drink refill credit.

So for smaller fills of less than 50 gallons, PFJ was a better reward option and only a difference overall of $1 or so per fuelup.

I doubt that would be the deal - if it was, that is absolutely a reason to never use GS again. Kickbacks like that tend to be illegal. More likely the GS deal just limits the overall discount unless you are using their GS credit card which they can then charge interest on. With the limited discount on fuel, it would just mean more profit on fuel for PFJ.

Is there a reason that TSD can't be talked about publicly?
Since owning a DP I have quit using PFJ as their $ is way out of line even with the GS discount of a few cents.
