Good Sam roadside assistance

I received a letter from them saying my credit card on file did not work, please call. I speak to a nice guy and as I am about to renew he says “ you are aware that your motor home is not covered by this plan.”
He says we sent you a letter in January saying we needed to upgrade to Platinum for it to be covered. So after paying for a plan that covered the Moho they change the rules and I am no longer covered? It expires in two months and did not renew. Better check, you may not be covered for towing on your Moho.

I learned about this change with GS earlier this year on this forum.
I called GS and they told me that a letter was sent out in January 2018, which I totally disagreed with because I had not received it.
They also said I would be grandfathered in until the end of my 2 year term which is for 1 more year.
Even though I'm covered, I have also read far too many horror stories from others on this forum, and how GS either left them stranded or provided terrible service, so I plan to return to CAA (like AAA) before our big trip this year and will just forget about GS.
I will not be renewing my Good Sam Roadside Assistance.
Bottom line, I will loose 1/2 of my investment ($40.00) for my 2nd year coverage with GS, but gain proper coverage and peace of mind.

Good Sam platinum covers the RV. I have had no problems with their service. Their annual fee is about half of AAA.

Before you buy RV road service insurance read this!

I signed up for GS Road Service and then read the fine print and noted that it made no reference to motorhome towing. I immediately cancelled.

I double checked my motorhome insurance coverage which is with State Farm and found that it INCLUDED road hazard coverage. Not as easy as calling GS or Allstate, I have to find my own service people ( tow trucks, locksmiths, etc. ) and submit a copy of my bill to State Farm and they will reimburse me.

Last year I had Allstate RV Road Service and the tow truck they were going to send was a standard flat bed wrecker. The police recommended a heavy duty tow service and they came and hauled me to the shop. I submitted the bill to Allstate and explained that the police had insisted I get towed since I was blocking traffic and Allstate promptly sent me a check for the tow truck.

Check with you RV insurance carrier before spending money on a supplementary plan, you may already have coverage. Same thing for car insurance.

Alan, I had the same thing happen! i called them and told the guy that I did not receive the letter and was changing the CoachNet. He immediately converted me to the Platinum plan at no charge!

They offered Platinum at cost but I feel their business practice is not compatible with my sense of well being.

I bet if you tell them you didn't get the letter and are changing to CoachNet they will do it at no cost!

Select the cancellation option when calling, then ask to speak to a supervisor.

I did receive the letter back in January and after reading everything provided determined the service they were forcing me into for coverage of my motorized RV was no longer completive with other similar plans available to me. As such I chose not to renew the subscription. I used the service several times over the years not only for the coach but my daily drivers. No complaints but as I mentioned they were no longer competitive so I terminated the relationship.

The never ending snail mail box full of special, once in a life time, never before seen offers for more stuff and services I don't want didn't help them much either.

I got the letter and had the free upgrade to Platinum done right away no problems.

Knock on wood...I've never had to use the plan. At the time I signed up, I got 5 years at something under $60 a year, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for a few more years until it runs out and then see if I renew. Frankly, with the way most of that whole group of companies is run now-a-days, I have my concerns.

We have had GS Roadside for a few years for our trailers. I think the way they handled the coach upgrade and program changes was not done well.

Never have had to call them. But I agree that Marcus is running a sloppy business with GS and Camping World. I do not shop there anymore for various reasons.

BTW, the mass mailings from them make good kindling for your fires!

We have the GS platinum plan which expires 3/19. Late last week I received a text from credit card that GS charged $1 . I e-mailed GS and questioned the charge and received a reply that they were checking the card and an actual charge for renewal would be done 30 days before end of term! A bit too early for renewal for me. Something I will watch & maybe cancel the card before that 30 day window.
