Good Sam vs Coach Net

Which is the better choice for Canada and the US road side for motorhomes?
Good Sam or Coach-net or are any others to consider?

Generally speaking Coach-net is considered the better of the two. But when you are stuck on the side of the road, either one is only as good as the training of the RA dispatcher and the timeliness and competency of the tow truck operator you get.

I have mine through my insurance (Progressive) who contracts through Saferide. The various RV clubs FMCA, Escapees, etc also offer Roadside assistance.

I haven’t yet in 8 years needed Roadside Assistance so I cannot personally speak to the quality of either.

PS, always have a spare tire on board.

The all call the same local participating provider. If one service pays more then the other, the truck is going to the one who pays the most.

We had Coach-Net for our Leprechaun. Last May on a Saturday afternoon we were about 20 miles outside of Memphis headed eastbound on I-40 when the passenger side inside rear tire blew out. We pulled over and called Coach-Net. The person on the phone was very courteous and assured us they would get someone out to us shortly. They even had the HP stop by and check on us. They called back about every 20 minutes to update us on progress in finding a service that would come out to us. Long story short, we were on the side of the road for 4 1/2 hours and Coach-Net never found a tire service that would come out. We decided to try our auto insurance (Auto-Owners) as a last option. They had someone out to us within an hour.

Last July we broke down 2 times in Florida on I10. We had Good Sam RA.
First time we sat 3 days on the side of the interstate in the emergency lane. Second time we sat 4 days on the side of I10 in the emergency lane.

I have come to learn the are only as good as the availability of providers in your area.
Despite their advertisements and claims both are far from perfect
Time of day and day of the week is a factor as well.
They are both terrible late Saturday afternoon on a Holiday weekend.
Don't expect much if you are in a remote area.
I have been members of both and am still a member.
But when you need assistance neither is truly reliable.
You are more on your own than they want you to believe!
