Goodyear G670 tires

We are on a 12 week moho trip and noticed that our right front tire was wearing on the second row of tread from the outside. The tires had 15,000 miles on them when we noticed the problem. Has anyone else had this problem with these tires?

No, I got one of the first sets of these tires in 2003 and have run over 50,000 miles with no problems and a great ride compared to the Michelin's they replaced.

ccrider24, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and I know you will enjoy the website. It sounds like an alignment issue if tire pressures are correct. Make certain the tire pressures are correct and then have an alignment shop check the front end alignment to be sure. Take care and have fun.

Some coaches suffer a problem known as "riverwear' on the Goodyear G670 and nobody is sure exactly what causes it. It is a narrow band of wear, usually at the outer edge or very close to it, and it has a definite ridge rather than taper at the edge. It's as if the rubber in a narrow area simply evaporated (and that's one of the theories about it). I had it on both front tires on mine. Goodyear says "no problem" because it won't cause structural failure and the wear will supposedly not reduce the life of the tire any. In other words, the rest of the tire will wear out before the riverwear becomes a problem. You can make up your own mind about that. They were right in my case - I got a bulge in the sidewall after 5 years and 48k miles, before the tread wore down.
