GPS
Is there a preference on GPS when towing your RV. Some friends of ours was traveling and went under a bridge in New York State and took off both AC units. They literally had two sky lights. Just don’t want that to happen to us. GPS that mounts or GPS for smartphones.

Chappy58-
Here is a link to a Google search of iRV2 posts with the terms "best" and "GPS" in them.
There is a company that sells a POI "database" of low clearance locations. It is supposed to be more comprehensive that what the GPS makers provide. The link to that Web site is here.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Most folks prefer the Garmin. You'll find a poll on GPS's on page 2 of this forum! Keep her between the ditches!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Know your rigs height and watch for signs!
I know mine is 13' and the WiFi antennas are 2" higher.
I have a Rand McNally 7" screen one that is also a tablet, dash cam and will connect to a backup cam if I needed it. I don't use either of those last two features.

We went to Garmin from Rand McNally. Very happy with this choice.

Not sure if this answers your question. I’ve used a RAM mount to use my iPad as a gps. I have a cellular ipad so can use google maps even when offline because it has a gps chip that regular ipads don’t have. Before each day, I check my route on the Allstays app for low clearances. If you have wifi or cellular data, the Allstays app can also be used as your GPS realtime. All this could be done with your cell phone as well. This system has worked pretty flawlessly for me going to Alaska last summer.
