Ken

I think it's the abbreviation for "spiced ham". Incidently, the state of Hawaii is still one of the largest consumers of Spam.

In Shartlesville PA there is an 8000 sq ft model train layout that is unbelieveable. A couple RV parks nearby. Plan to take awhile. It's at exit 23 of I-78
Roadside America - Home

In Warm Springs, GA- FDR's Little White House (Now a State Park, no campsites there but FDR State Park at Pine mountain has plenty) Original buildings, cars and estate are preserved. Recommend visit in the toad. Georgia State Parks - Roosevelt's Little White House Historic Site

And a local favorite, The National Naval Aviation Museum aboard NAS Pensacola. Navy/ Marine and Coast Guard aircraft from day one, space capsule, aircraft carrier flight deck, all restored to perfection. IMAX theater. If you time it right you can see the Blue Angels practice flights on Tues & Wed mornings almost every week during the summer.
National Naval Aviation Museum - Welcome Main Page

enjoy

Ken,
I believe MartinD4 is correct in that it comes from "SPiced hAM". Besides Hawaii, it is very popular other south Pacific islands.

We check this site anytime we travel, we have found tours along the way we would have missed if we just went with the Road Atlas, great breaks from driving.
