Grey water tank inlet

After noticing water dripping from the bottom of my 2000 winnebago class c. I looked at the inlet to the grey and it's not aligned. I assume I can fix this without replacing the tank. Hopefully. Any tips. This is on the slide-out side.

Either the tank has shifted, or the hole in the floor that the black pipe goes thru is large enough to allow the black pipe to move over and align with the port on the gray tank.

I also would have thought, for a 2000 coach, that this issue would have presented itself long before now - so would think it’s repairable by lifting the pipe and moving over to reinsert into the tank port, or shifting the tank to allow the block pipe to align.

Only concern I have is sealing the connection once the black pipe is reinserted into the tank port.

It does look like the tank has shifted. Maybe a hard stop did it. I wonder if they make a flexible fitting to alow for some shifting.

Was there a hose clamp on it ?
Also looks like the tank fitting is broken.

I think the others are correct about the tank shifting.
Looks like the tank would have to be dropped to reconnect the hose and have access to clamp it unless the hose slips into the fitting.

Just guessing.

Well, you need to fix the tank shifting issue before you fix the drain pipe issue.

Is the black pipe accessible from above? Hopefully, yes because I’m not sure how they would have put everything together originally.

What I think you’ll need to do is raise the black pipe, shift the gray tank over and into place and re-secure it. Then if possible, remove the black pipe to make sure the end isn’t broken out on the side not seen in the picture.
Depending, you may have to cut that pipe to get it out of the way to move the tank, then find a slip fitting of sorts to provide a new length of pipe for extending into the tank (something similar to a repair coupling used on irrigation systems).

Keep us posted.

Is it the vent pipe sometimes they are just press fitted in not saying it's right possibly necessary IDK. Hopefully pipe can be raised and lowered from above. The gray tank can get pretty smelly.

Would think you would still wanted it connected - driving the coach with a part filled or higher gray tank would allow for spillage out of that port - the pipe minimizes such spillage, and being sealed (clamp or seal washer) insures no leakage.

As mentioned, that could be the vent pipe. One way to see if it is the vent pipe is to get on the roof and see if the pipe moves. If it does, you may be able to "guide" it back in place without needing to drop the tank.

Agree with the previous suggestions.

  1. Either the pp or the tank moved. Figure out which and a way to prevent a repeat in the future. Maybe something as simple as a shim to reduce movement.
  2. It's not subject to much water (or air) pressure, so the fitting was probably just a slip fit and not glued. OK to put it back the same way, but a rubber flex union with hose clamps would be a nice improvement if you can get at it to do so. I would not glue it, just in case a more serious future repair is needed.
  3. If it's the vent pipe, there is less need to improve the connection.
