Surveillence is always the answer. Park within site of the door and observe the people coming out and see if they look good. Then it should be safe to go in for a try.

When in doubt, find the salon that has the best looking hairstylist and get her to cut your hair. Even if you get a bad haircut, all is not lost!

I use the ole flowbee. They actually do a good job. You just need to have like trimmers for the back of you neck. Been using it for over 9 years. Find new flowbee'son Ebay

Superclips/Supercuts. They're fairly wide spread and pretty standard. Though, I usually like to try and find the barber shops that more tailored to men specifically.
