Harvey - Sobering Numbers

Just some I picked up from current news stories this afternoon.
Numbers based on preliminary evaluations and estimates I found today.
Over 60 deaths in TX alone
1 million cars and trucks damaged - over half may be totaled
Quarter million homes damaged or destroyed
100 billion and climbing economic loss
Chemical pollution - over 1 million pounds of dangerous air pollutants released
16 superfund sites damaged and eleven more can't even be accesed for evaluation
100 billion and climbing total economic loss
160 plus drinking water systems on boil advisory and 50 more shutdown or damaged and usless

Still waiting for estimates:
Erosion and silt damage
Crop damage and livestock losses
Lost fish, shrimp and oysters
Highway and bridge damage
And a lot more

Save those numbers and compare them with the devastation Irma will bestow on Fl. next week.

First of June through the end of November, but out of season Hurricanes do occur, and September is statistically the most active month.

From someone being in the auto industry for years, make sure if you are purchasing a used vehicle in next 6-8 months, do not trust only a "car fax", but actually look under vehicle , in trunk, behind door panels, under carpets ect. Check electrical like flashers, lights ect as this is also a good tell. The will be a glut of flood damaged cars going thru auctions on East and West coasts. Can't tell you how many my dealership ended up with over the years.... Many good buyers at auctions, buying cars for my store got fooled a few times. Many times the cars are moved fast before the "totaled" paperwork catches up with them. Prayers for all those affected...

Harvey is the worst natural disaster in the history of the Country, let alone Texas. You may have heard of a "100 year flood", well, Houston and its surrounds experienced an 800 year flood!
