As it often has been quoted. The best home defense is a shotgun.. Well let me tell you if you ever shoot a shotgun in an enclosed room without ear protection your probably going to be deaf for the rest of your life..And you can" take that to the bank"I know, dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. Self defense is a real b***h...

Quite interesting that hardly anyone has had a problem. We also have never had an issue and that does include Wal Marts and truck stops. Our safety item is just simply wasp spray.

Having to defend myself against a scum bag who sued me because I WOULDN'T prepare a fraudulent tax return for him, I have to agree completely that if you pull that trigger you will be living in a legal morass for many years to come. My legal troubles took two and a half years and $60,000 so shooter beware.

Don, sadly you are right! I carry and will use it without hesitation to protect the lives of my family, but I'm always aware of what the results may be!

When we're away from the RV I lock the deadbolt and the regular door lock, and we have a door alarm that is VERY loud! If they get past all that, then that's what I have insurance for!

We do lock the bicycles when we're away from the CG, but they might need a cooler or something worse than we do!

As a retired police officer, I can only repeat the often heard phrase:

"I'd rather be tried by 12 than buried by 6" .... and that's how serious it would have to be prior to even displaying a weapon.
One of the "prime directives" is, never, ever point a weapon unless you feel your life is in danger AND you intend to use it (ie: not just to scare someone off)

Did you shoot him because he sued you?

It must be that all the badass threats of jacking or B+E or RV invasion are in the US cause we never hear of it up here in Canada. No one carries guns here. Apparently not even the crooks do I guess.

Not that I would want to be the only one pulled over at a rest stop to overnight. I'd likely pick a busier one to feel comfortable.

I think our second amendment has more to it than to protect yourself and family. I think the ORIGINAL intent was to give it's citizens a measure of protection from over zealous governments.

Not misinfo, true. Got it from three different sources, one a cop another a doctor.

I've closed this thread as most posts have violated this section of our community rules.

" General discussions of politics, general government policies, weaponry, gun rights and religion are not allowed in ANY areas of iRV2. Discussions about current or pending legislation or regulations, weapons and religion that directly pertain to RVing are acceptable but will be closed or removed if they wander off topic or become disruptive."

It is Christmas and we don't want anybody to get coal in their stockings.
