Has anyone here ever attended a Good Sam Rally?

I am thinking of attending the Good Sam Rally in Redmond, Oregon in July. The thing that I am wondering about is the price to stay in the campground (Actually it's a fairgrounds) with all the other RV attendees. They want $379.00 for two people for four nights. $138.00 of this goes towards entry for four days and entertainment. That means $60.25 a day goes to camping with electrical hookups only. No water, no sewer, no cable. This seems awfully high to me. Have any of you ever attended a rally? Is it worth it?

We attended our first one last summer in Louisville. We were on a parking lot in 90+ degree heat/humidity & it was HOT! We had a good time though. Many manufacturers were there with rigs on display, lots of vendors with stuff to buy, dozens of great seminars & fun entertainment (for the most part). I was disappointed in the food vendors they had, but we found several good local places to eat when we wanted to eat out.

If you've never been to one, I'd say it's worth it to see what it's all about. You can see pictures of last summer's The (Affinity Group) Rally posted in my photo albums.

NO

We have not attended a Rally at all.
FMCA or NKK are most the time tooooo far away for us. I do not know, how it will work (for us) with soo many other RVers. I would like to try it one day. Has to be SOON. Time does not stop for us old RVers

I wish they would have one without a BIG schedule. Liked the meet & greet in Anacortes, WA last week. Just right for us!

We did the 2005/2007 Rally in the same place they have it this year. Just like what you have found, what they charged for staying within the fairgrounds is too expensive. So we opted to stay at the Oregon State Parks (Tumalo and La Pine) which are full hook-ups. Tumalo is about 15 minutes to Redmond and La Pine is maybe 30-45 minutes away. For us it was better since you have more space compared to the fairgrounds. They're (RVs) packed in there like sardines that sometimes you can't even deploy your awning. But as what NLOVNIT says, being there at the Rally is too much FUN!!!
