Hauling golf cart

We now pull a pickup with a 6.5 ft. bed. We haul our golf cart on it. I put 2 2x8 down with a 1 ft square solid rubber mat under them at the backend of the bed. This works to keep weight off the tail gate. I loosen the top bolt and take out the bottom bolt on the step and fasten it up out of the way with a cable so it does not drag while loading. Now we are thinking about selling our 42 ft motorhome and going to a smaller travel trailer. We would pull it with the pickup. I am trying to figure out how I can take the golf cart with us. I am looking for ideas.

A simple solution would be a TT Toyhauler .

The only question is what is your pickup towing capacity.

We would get a bigger Pickup if needed. But did not want to go over 30ft on the travel trailer.

With broad assumptions about capacity ratings, could you not still put it in the pick-up bed? Of course you would have to unhook from the TT to load/unload.

Side question our of curiosity. Are you a golfer, do you use the golf cart to just scoot around the campground, or?

The cart sticks out past the pickup bed. I don't think I could pull a trailer with propane tanks on the tongue. With the tail gate down it would hit the travel trailer when turning. I don't know how hard it is to take the tail gate off these newer pickups.

You don't really indicate how much longer the golf cart is than the truck bed. If just a few inches, run the front of the cart up on ramps at the front of the bed, it might be enough to close the tailgate.

Many people use the garage space for expanded living area on a toy hauler. If you want office or craft space, or an extra bedroom, a toy hauler can be a nice option.

Aw, that makes sense. I have a 2018 RAM. Tailgate just pops right off. But I sure would not want to be without it. One of the nice things about the TT is we can leave it at the campsite and tour around the area in the truck. I have a locking lid on the pickup bed that I would not want to lose.

Just tossing this in the pot -- depending on your usage, would a pair of electric bikes do the job?

I think the toy hauler suggestions are pretty good. I personally don't know what sizes they offer.

Remove the bed and install rails across the frame of the truck. That reduces the weight of the truck to allow golf cart and trailer tongue weight. Not sure that will be aesthetically pleasing to you and the capacity to carry the load should be verified prior to any changes in your RVing plan.

Is your Golfcart fullsize ?

Have you looked into the Cricket Golfcarts or any of the other small carts ?

These carts will fit in the back of our Tahoe with the rear door closed . I would think they would fit completely in your 6.5 ft bed.

Get a truck with an 8’ bed.
