Health Care coverage in Canada, eh?
I searched around and didn't come up with much helpful information, but I did some research on my own and thought I would share in the forum. I was wondering about major medical Health Care coverage in Canada. I am a Medicare subscriber and have Blue Cross Blue Shield for my secondary. BCBS also covers my wife who is not yet Medicare eligible. We're traveling in Canada this summer. Actually staying in two different places for one month each. My BCBS provider told me about BlueCross Worldwide. You can register there if you are BlueCross subscriber, using your BCBS ID# and then use their provider search to see which providers accept BlueCross Worldwide for hospitalization. This search covers the globe, but we were looking in Canada specifically. Barrie Canada is our closest city - about a half hour from each of our summer destinations and the "royal victoria hospital" is the place we can go. For doctor visits and pharmacy, we have to pay out of pocket and then submit to BCBS and they will reimburse us. But this could be an issue for major medical like a heart attack or a major auto accident or something and so it's good to know we are covered in Barrie.
