Just curious. I know that AARP pushes the Advantage plan. Do that also have the Plan F that works with regular Medicare?

The plan F is more expensive but it's well worth it if you have any medical problems! They even pay the Medicare yearly deductible!
It doesn't make any difference which company you select since they all pay the same thing, at least on the plan F. You can just shop around and find the company with the lowest rate on Plan F! I would only consider the highest rated companies so they will be there when you need them!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I got Plan F for both the wife and I.

I would try AMAC instead of AARP which has interests other than yours.

BTW- be aware that there is a Medicare "Advantage" plan where you don't pay Medicare, only the insurance company. THEY are totally responsible for your medical expenses, NOT the government! I'm not really familiar with exactly how it works, but you may not be able to get the "complete coverage" like regular Medicare with Plan F supplement. Be careful!

You will still have to pay your " Medicare Part B" premium regardless of whether you take a Medicare Advantage or a Medicare Supplement.

AARP doesn't write any insurance, the insurance that they push is written by United Health, but yes they (UHC) do have Medicare Supplement plans. The draw back is that you MUST join AARP to enroll in it.

Jack,
Just remember that all Plan F's have the same basic coverage, but not all companies are the same price when it's time to do business. I've worked with several Insurance Companies that deal in Med Sups, and I can tell you that some of them are a real pain to deal with.

We chose AARP United Healthcare. They have several plans with different prices and deductibles. Just choose the one you like. We also chose the Humana drug plan. Same thing - different prices and deductibles. We pay $231.92 for two people on AARP and $86.20 for two on the drug plan.

We had Mutual of Omaha for several years, but they kept going up on rates. We switched to Aetna this year and saved a bundle!
