Heater elec fan motor, anyone tear one apart

I replaced my Heater fan motor with a new one finally. About $80 shipped.

Has anyone tore an old elec fan moter apart to see what squeals? or what type bearing it has ?

I'm wondering if the squealing is the the brushes and not the bearings

Most likely it has bushings and they're probably dry. Brushes are relatively soft, I doubt if they would squeal.

The 'bearings' in a low end home style electric heater/fan/motor as noted above are probably an Oilite, lube impregnated bushing that may or may not be replaceable, depending on how the probable Far Eastern manufacturer chose to install it at his factory. Also, if it squeals, the motor armature shaft may be too scored to repair.

https://oilite.com/oilite

Even AMAZON sell the Oilites: https://www.amazon.com/Bronze-Oilite...ilite+Bushings as well as McMaster Carr: https://www.mcmaster.com/oil-embedded-bushings/

They have gone well up in price since my last use but, heck, if it's a good other wise item, might be worth a try. And yes, have repaired small motors with these bushings but not recently

The bearings could be Oilite

These elec RV heater motors are not rebuildable / serviceable. Riveted together

I had lubed my squealing bearings , lasts about 1 or 2 day. Fix is replace the motor

Sound like neither of you have had a heater fan motor go bad and squeal.

YES they do squeal.... Many youtube videos about squealing RV heater motors

Well Im good to go with a new motor. My question was, If someone had actually, physically, in real life, really, torn apart an old worn out a elec heater motor

Good luck.

Most auto parts stores have replacement insert motors. You remove old motor, take apart, insert replacement and reinstall. The one where I purchased my replacement has lifetime warranty.
