Hi, I am new to this site (and rving) and was hoping to meet some other camping moms. My kids are 12,10 and 5 and we are headed out today for our first camping trip. The weather is colder than normal but we are bringing sweatshirts and I figure we have the furnace to keep us warm at night. We ordered our fiver 6 weeks ago and I have been reading, planning and preparing ever since. I am trying not to make to high of expectations for myself and just enjoy the weekend with my family. It's not going to be perfect..I am just hoping we survive our first weekend without any MAJOR problems, lol. Anyway- just wanted to say hi. I notice there aren't many posts here and I love to talk....so post away !!

Welcome! Mr. Wonderful and I have been camping for "years and years". We have camped with 5 kids and a few dogs - and even the "problems" turned out to be a great part of our family. When we are all together now, with all our 13 grandkids, those problems are a great topic of conversation and we all laugh at how we "fixed" things and who suffered, got wet, missed a meal or lost a tooth. We are all still "happy campers"!

Hi Lil'Darlin -
Although we don't have kiddoes, hubby and I have camped from Lake Erie to the Rio Grande and everywhere in between. We rarely go camping without out "furr babies" and always have many fun stories to share.
That's the best part of a forum like this is you know you're never alone = you've got friends across the country to share quips and quotes, stories and tales so you just keep on posting all the experiences of a lifetime with the new rig and your family!

Hello Lil'Darlin'
How did your firstcampout go?
Our 4 kids are all out and about and enjoyin camping with their kids.
We've been camping for 49 years in all kinds of rigs. Bought our first motorhome when we retired and have slept in all lower 48! Great education for the kids! They can say...we've been there.
Happy Trails! PeggyUSA

Hi Lil'Darlin,
Camping is all about having fun and enjoying family and friends. We too have great stories that we laugh about now in retrospect. We camped in tents with our two daughters and now as adults they enjoy camping too. Sometimes they come with us and sleep in the fiver and sometimes they go on their own and sleep in a tent. Just enjoy and have a great time! If you have any questions there lots of people on this site with thousands of years of experience among them.
Happy camping!

Our first camping trip was a lot of fun. I wish the weather was better, but we made due anyway. The kids moped about taking showers at the bath house, but it was a REALLY clean building and it only took 10 minutes for all 3 kids to finish up their showers. My dh took them over and stood outside the rooms while they were in there, and I was back at camp cleaning up after dinner. By the time I was done, so were they. They said it wasn't so bad afterwards, lol.
I think my favorite part of the weekend was eating outside on the picnic table and playing games out there with the kids. Funny how we don't seem to be able to find the time to do that here at home. My hubby says it's because "life gets in the way" when we are home. There are always calls to return, yard work to do, etc. When we are camping we can forget about all of that for awhile

Welcome to IRV2. If you paln to cold weather camp without power make sure you have enough battery capacity to run the furnace. The furnace can pull down a battery prety fast. If you have power, no problem, let the furnace run. To cut back on the propane usage, you can runn a 1500 wat ceramic heater to take the chill off.
